Simplicity at it’s best…..
We just photographed the Burke family in our studio in Ottawa (Orleans). Christine (Mom), wanted a relaxed style… Sometimes, it’s not about the fancy backgrounds and the props ( we are not big on those anyway), it’s about people… This beautiful photographic family session shows a fun, relax style in a simple environment….And kids that just love to move…
Here is a look at “The making of a family photo” :)”
In short, they were awesome and we had a blast 🙂

We had the pleasure of photographing Céline and her 3 year old daughter…again. Every summer, we do an update photo for them! This time, they came to our new estate studio in Cumberland. We often photograph in the afternoon or in the evening, but we wanted to try the morning light. Wow, beautiful light. We get to explore new angles around the pond and the natural back lighting is amazing.
Céline use to work for a high end photography studio in the Niagara Falls area before relocating to Ottawa. When she moved here, she went searching for a photographer and found us! She makes us come up with the perfect image every time! It has been a continuous photographic affair ever since 🙂

Rupa and Haamid got married this August on THE warmest day of the summer. What a beautiful wedding, what a beautiful bride, and what a sweet guy. It was such a joy to photograph their wedding. Here are a few samples.

Wow, we love photographing weddings at the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Ottawa. This Church is, in our opinion, one of Ottawa’s prime wedding locations. The church ceiling is beautiful and there are amazing photographic locations outside. Here are highlights of Andrea & Mark’s wedding album. After we exploited areas around the church, we crossed over to the Museum of Civilization for more photos. The reception was at the Chateau Laurier.

Well, it is a fact, we live in Canada, and summer is so short….Why not plan a beautiful white winter wedding in the Nation’s Capital. In fact, winter weddings are becoming more and more popular. We love taking outdoor wedding photos in the winter. We explore locations around the courtyard, at the ByWard market, around the Parliament of Canada and Major’s Hill Park. A beautiful winter wedding location is also at the Canadian Museum of Civilisation in Gatineau or the landmark ” Fairmont Chateau Laurier” in Ottawa.
If you are thinking of having a winter wedding in the Nation’s capital, give us a call at 613-824-8525.
Until next time,

Studio G. R. Martin opened in 1981. Since then, Guy Martin has been collecting ideas and making plans in his head for the ultimate perfect outdoor studio. His photography studio at 1439 Youville Drive in Orleans, is in an industrial park, giving him no possibility to photograph outdoors. His dream became a reality when I found the perfect house on a one acre lot in Cumberland , Ontario, just by luck ! The backyard faces south and we have a hill full of mature maples trees creating a canape of shade allowing us to photograph all day long-even when it is sunny. The white house is perfect because it serves as a natural reflector. Let’s just say, all the elements were there to create the perfect photography oasis…, and Guy had a vision….
Here is a photo of the existing pond in the back yard. It was too big, very deep and it overflowed in the spring or dried up in the summer.
We started the construction of the outdoor Cumberland photography studio in the summer of 2008.
The existing pond was too big & deep for the yard.
It took 40 truck loads to fill the pond. Then, we started to shape the pond and choose the rocks strategically with family photography in mind.
The pond is starting to take shape. It takes a lot of sand to prepare the base.
We ran out of fill, so the pond took shape a little bigger then we anticipated…
We needed to control the water level and clarity by installing a pond liner. It took a 50 x 100 foot liner.
Always with family photography in mind, Guy had Christian (our great machine operator) move rocks until he was satisfied. this went on for weeks.
Preparing the landscaping around the house and new estate photography studio. Following the plans …
With our pathway and courtyard done, we were ready for the final touches around the pond ( preparing of the “Family Point”.)
In October 2008, we were ready for our first family photography portrait session at our new outdoor studio. Thank you to the Bradley family for believing in us and for being our “first test drive family”. Here is the group family photo at the pond.
Almost 10 months later, and countless hours of planting, here is look at our new estate outdoor photography studio in Cumberland, Ontario. These photos were taken July 16th, 2009. We now have a waiting list for weekend family photography sessions at the pond until the end of August, but, if you can get your family together during the week days or early evenings, we have time all summer long. Call us at 613-824-8525 to book your session. Until then, have a great summer.

This a glamour photoshoot I did last week. Stuart and Alycia live in Calgary, and where visiting the national capital for a weekend business trip. These engagement photographs where taken in our Orleans photography studio. They wanted glamourous photos together before they get married next month. Alycia is a gorgeous woman who competes in fitness competitions. What a pleasure to photograph!!!!! Here are a few samples of Glamour couple’s photography.

3 times Brigitte had to come to our Orleans studio from Gatineau, Quebec for Eva’s 1 year old photography portrait session. All her other kids were photographed on their 1st birthday , so this was a must. At Studio G. R. Martin, we have a very relaxed approach about children photography. If a child does not cooperate the first time, bring them back until they do….Little Eva’s 3rd session was a charm ! Her mom never lost confidence in us and we never gave up either. This winning combination of determination and persistence made this image earn a well deserved 24×36 canvas in our gallery.
