“Baby Sloan” is the most adorable little girl. She is polite, pretty and determined to do things her way. Kids often dictate the photo sessions. Our job as photographers is to guide the child to the set, chair, rug or area we want them photographed in, and then, let their imagination and the magic happen. We have tricks up our sleeves, but sometime, even the funniest toy or most beautiful stuffed animal won’t make a difference in the world if the child does not want to be there. We need to build a trusting relationship first, get them to like us, and photograph in a non-obstructive style. This approach works really well when parents want a “lifestyle photo session”. Le beau Jonathan!!! We have had the privilege of photographing Jonathan for many years now! We love updating his photos and offering him different looks for his modeling portfolios. Below is an example of children studio photography. Sometimes, if it’s really hot outdoors, it’s easier to get the children’s attention for a perfect portrait in our indoor studio. Larger groups are perfect outdoors at our pond. When we photograph families, we usually do the group, then, every individual families have their own photos too. Family photography is so fun to do at this time of year. Everywhere you look, the colors are beautiful, especially at our outdoor estate studio in Ottawa ( Cumberland area). Spontaneous family photos are achieved by setting up the family at a specific place where the main light comes from the side and the sun is behind the subject, and then, letting them interact. We always have fun photographing Steve and Gillian and congratulate them on their wonderful family. Here is an example of what we created for them.
