Ottawa Outdoor Family Photography
We had scheduled to photograph this beautiful family on an Saturday afternoon at our Cumberland Estate Studio a few saturdays ago. Unfortunately, it was raining that day! ( we had a lot of rain dates this year…) Thankfully, we managed to re-schedule their family portrait session this week. The late evening light gave us a chance to discover new shooting area’s like the first two photos taken in our front entrance. Looking through our lens of choice ( the canon 70-200 mm) let’s us zoom in on the people we are photographing and really concentrate on the direction of the light. Despite the cold weather, we came up with some pretty “hot’ images. I’m kind of happy we had to reschedule 🙂

Family Studio Photography in Ottawa
Simplicity at it’s best…..
We just photographed the Burke family in our studio in Ottawa (Orleans). Christine (Mom), wanted a relaxed style… Sometimes, it’s not about the fancy backgrounds and the props ( we are not big on those anyway), it’s about people… This beautiful photographic family session shows a fun, relax style in a simple environment….And kids that just love to move…

Baby & Children Studio Photography
In our Orleans, Ottawa indoor studio still located at 1439 Youville Drive ( we have not moved our indoor studio yet to 2080 Old Montreal Road), we love to photograph babies and kids. They are often one hour sessions filled with love and patience !!! In this set, we re-create a natural window light by placing 3 flashes behind the acrylic windows ( at f-11) and one flash as a fill ( around f-5.6).
We also do baby announcement cards. This was baby # 3 for this ottawa family ( we also photographed their 2 girls when they were babies ), now that the family is complete, here is an example of a baby announcement card including all the kids.

Ottawa Dance Photography with Mary Kathryn & Emma
Dance Photography is a big part of our photography business. We love designing new dance backgrounds every year for the dance schools we photograph. For years, we’ve been happy to provide our dance photography services to the following dance schools : Leeming Danceworks , The Academy of Dance Arts , Ecole de Danse Louise , Dance R Studio, Remix Dance and Le Dance Lab.. We have photographed the same kids for over 20 years now, and it’s great to see their evolution and also, the evolution of our photography and dance backgrounds.
Mary Katheryn and Emma Bohn attend Leeming Danceworks http://leemingdanceworks.com/2_classes.htm in Orleans, Ontario. We have been photographing them since the year 2000. Their mom Carol-Ann, a devoted “dance MOM”, dedicates tons of love and time for her daughters and made them each a scrapbook with all the dance photos we took over the years. When Emma came in to get her grade 6 graduation photos done, we spent time looking at their wonderful albums full of great memories. I just had to take a photo to show all of you . Here it is:
The Bohn family spends time together during their summer vacation to make amazing albums. They carefully choose the scrapbooking materiel at Michaels – the arts & Crafts Store, then, add all the awards they won with the dance number. Here is a close up look at a few pages:
Great work and hope this inspires other dancers to do the same!!!
