Weddings are always magical…and sometimes as photographers, we witness a kind of love that inspirers us! This is truly what happened on Suzanne and Andre’s wedding day. The love they share for one another is amazing. They are so comfortable with each other and they shine in front of the camera. During the couple’s photos, it was great to watch them walking hand in hand, laugh and kiss as if it was the first time over and over again! To forget that there is a camera around is really the key to spontanious and natural looking photos.
The wedding was at their estate in Cumberland, Ontario on a very hot summer day. Everything was planned to a T, from the grand entrance of the bride on a vintage red dodge convertible to the music during the ceremony from the bride’s daughter Manon, a talented flutist and her aunt, an amazing singer from New Brunswick… The guest were entertained with drinks, cocktails and an impressive collection of old cars worth viewing on their property. The art of entertaining was truly mastered at this wedding!. Here are a few highlights from their engagement photo session and their wedding day!

Stephanie & Doug said I do on a warm sunny afternoon in an outdoor ceremony you see in movies! The day started with the bride and her entourage in the bridal suite. All the beautiful hair and makeup was done by Melissa Robert. Stephanie looked radiant in her dress by Maggie Sottero. Her bubbly personality, her beauty and her great attitude made the bridal session fun and relaxing. We took photos all around the auberge with her family and friends. We then took some time to photograph the groom and his family and friends before the ceremony.
The lovely country wedding ceremony was preformed by the most professional and charming wedding officiant ,Lynne Langille from Exceptional Ceremonies. She even took the time to make it “personal” by sharing the couple’s journey from the time they met (this part was really funny and most entertaining) to the birth of their beautiful baby girl Ashley! The groom, looked especially charming with Ashley in his arms, waiting for his bride to come down the aisle. We loved working with this couple! Doug has an amazing sense of humor and made us laugh all day! Doug and Stephanie compliment each other so well, they are really a perfect match. I loved watching them interact during the portrait session. We were also very impressed by the staff at the Auberge des Gallant. If you are planning a country style wedding outside of Ottawa on the Quebec side, then, Auberge des Gallant will not disappoint. The appetizers were amazing and the service was impeccable. We took the bridal party to the Botanical gardens located on the other side of their property ( a 2 minute limo ride + 5 minute walk ) and the auberge des gallant staff arrived 15 minutes later with drinks, water and appetizers for everyone… WOW! I have never seen this kind of service by a reception venue before. After the wedding portrait session, Doug and Stephanie made their grand entrance “officially” as husband and wife…What a beautiful day! Here are a few highlights we wanted to share with you.

I wanted to share the highlights of this wonderful winter wedding on February 25, 2012 in Ottawa. We started the photo session at the newly renovated Westin Hotel. The view of the Ottawa city created a great backdrop for the preparations and the portrait photo session. The bride was wearing a tailor made originally designed purple dress and the groom had a purple shirt to compliment the color scheme. Their individuality, personality and love for each other shinned through the moment we arrived for the photo session. The bridal session, the families and the couple’s photos were all done before the ceremony at the Westin Hotel and at the Ottawa Convention Center. We had so much fun during the photo-shoot and that’s what it’s all about! We then made our way for the ceremony and reception at La Bekta Dinning. The wedding celebrations did not stop there, it kept on going the day after at Le Château Montebello hotel in Quebec, for a brunch for all their family and friends. There was plenty of snow at the rendez-vous and I was so glad because it created a wonderful winter scene! -and let’s not forget the blowing snow falling from the trees onto my Canon camera and 70-200mm lens…We ended with a photo session around the Chateau followed by a sleigh ride! Here are some highlights of the winter wedding day!

Here is a look at a wedding Joelle and Guy photographed in May. It was a very early start at the grooms mom home first, then, at the brides home. Everybody was so nice, all smiles and the early morning photo sessions went very well! At around 9h30am, they were off to the Courtyard Restaurant for their ceremony. The room looked amazing as always and the officiant, Lynne Langille from “Exceptional Ceremonies” made it extra special. The photos were done on the market, around the courtyard and on York Street. They were so lucky because the rain was coming…..and did it ever….just when they were done :). Katrina and Mark are so sweet and kind to each other – they make the perfect couple and made the photo session look very easy! Have a look at a few images from their beautiful morning wedding and we wish Katrina and Mark all the happiness they deserve!

Mel & Nicolas tied the knot in May 2011. The very “tall and beautiful couple” were awesome models! The camera loves them! Guy and I had photographed Mel’s family at our photography studio in Orleans. I remember the photo session so well, we were laughing and making jokes…what beautiful family with lot’s of kids! Well, a few years later, here we are photographing Mel’s wedding. The ceremony took place in Clarence Creek at “l’Église catholique Ste-Félicité.The church has big windows that make it nice and bright despite the rain. It was raining a lot as they walked down the aisle , so, we took the couple in a little stair case with a round window. The photos turned out so nice, that, we printed a 24×30 inch for our studio reception wall! They say rain on your wedding day is luck anyways, and it just makes us use different indoor locations that we would not find if it had been a sunny day 🙂 After the indoor photo session in the church, we took the couple to our studio in Cumberland, Ontario. We love using our indoor studio, especially for the families and bridal party, instead of going to a downtown indoor location with a lot of other weddings. Our studio location works well for East end weddings and was close to their reception venue: the Hammond Golf Course. Here are some highlights of Melissa and Nicolas’s wedding day!

The sweetheart and the gentleman – We all fell in love with this wedding couple the moment we met them. Alyssa is a bundle of energy, beautiful personality with spontaneous burst out loud laughs and Kris, a wonderful, handsome guy who keeps it together very well with his calm, cool vibe. What a couple…and what a joy to photograph them. The day started at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier in the bridal suite. We love photographing the bride at this hotel because the natural light is always beautiful and the rooms look great on photos.
The walk from the Chateau Laurier to the Courtyard restaurant gave us amazing photo opportunities. The bridal party were having fun, the bride was dancing the street… Everyone was cheering!
The ceremony was held inside the Courtyard restaurant. This is a challenging spot for ceremony photos because it is very dark. We have to set up radio poppers to give us a little extra light! The wedding was beautiful!
The rain did not stop us from exploring the downtown spots around the Courtyard, 18 york and the By ward market. The rain gave us the saturation of colors and the beautiful directional light you see in the next images. The bride and groom were very good models!
The rain stopped long enough to give us the opportunity to do more photos, a rain-rain go away dance 🙂 and some wedding party fun!
Back to the Courtyard for some more indoors photos and the official couple’s entrance.
What a beautiful wedding! Thanks Kris and Alyssa for a wonderful day!

Weddings in Ottawa have a magical feeling, especially in the fall. The venues that Carley and Mat chose for their Ottawa wedding affair were amazing. They are such a sweet couple, and Carley was breathtaking in her dress. We did the pre wedding photographs at the Minto Suites Hotel , then, the wedding ceremony at the Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica. We always stay around the church property for photos after the wedding. It’s one of our favorite spots for family photos. Since it was a very late fall wedding and it was ” cool” outside, they rented the National Art Gallery for the wedding photography. The night ended at the Minto Suites Hotel for the reception. Beautiful day, beautiful couple….in short, we wish them a great life together 🙂
We still have a few dates available for fall weddings in 2011! Just give us a call. Enjoy the highlights!
This photo was taken with available light and a bounce flash on – 1.5 stops
Wide angle photographs can give an exiting effect ( especially downtown Ottawa)
A mix of classic poses and candid / freestyle moments are important to tell a story.
Black and white photography have an amazing look with old stone buildings.
It was getting a little cold outdoors, we were very happy the bride and groom had rented the National Gallery of Canada.
Natural light is the key to beautiful wedding photography inside the gallery.
This is my favorite photo. Guy has a great ability to ” see the light” when he is looking for photo opportunities.
On the way to the reception, Guy convinced the couple to step outside the limousine for some photos at major hills park. The parliament and it’s surroundings are amazing in in photos.
Carley looks amazing in this photo taken in the lobby of the Minto Suites hotel.

Victoria and Marc came all the way from Vancouver to get married in Ottawa. They are a kind, beautiful, and complete each other so well. We were blessed with great ” weather” timing on their wedding day. During the photo session in the morning, it was raining so hard we were planning an indoor photo session. Then, like magic, the rain stopped during the ceremony and we enjoyed a great afternoon of photography in downtown Ottawa! It was perfect…just like Victoria is for Marc and Marc is for Victoria :). I first met the Kerba family when I photographed their daughters wedding and now, it was Marc’s turn. It’s so great to have the privilege to photograph a second wedding in a family!
We started the photo session in the morning at the Ottawa Marriott Hotel on Kent street. Then, the ceremony was at Ottawa’s St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (one of the only church in Ottawa that don’t allow photography during the ceremony, so, you have to recreate the exchange of the vows after…unless you are blessed with a” low light silent canon camera” :)). The family photos were done outside the church and then, we went for a walk downtown Ottawa and went to the museum of Civilisation in Gatineau for the couple’s photos. We finished the day at the Marriot Hotel for the reception in the Victoria Ballroom.
Here are some highlights of the day.
