Kids are beautiful. Spontaneous, candid style photography is often the way to go when photographing babies and children. Nothing beats a beautiful studio portrait, they are truly amazing; but, well executed candid freestyle photography is like magic. In the last year, we’ve had the privilege of photographing Ottawa kids in action at a local daycare. Here are examples of the photographs we came up with to decorate their walls.

We had scheduled to photograph this beautiful family on an Saturday afternoon at our Cumberland Estate Studio a few saturdays ago. Unfortunately, it was raining that day! ( we had a lot of rain dates this year…) Thankfully, we managed to re-schedule their family portrait session this week. The late evening light gave us a chance to discover new shooting area’s like the first two photos taken in our front entrance. Looking through our lens of choice ( the canon 70-200 mm) let’s us zoom in on the people we are photographing and really concentrate on the direction of the light. Despite the cold weather, we came up with some pretty “hot’ images. I’m kind of happy we had to reschedule 🙂

3 times Brigitte had to come to our Orleans studio from Gatineau, Quebec for Eva’s 1 year old photography portrait session. All her other kids were photographed on their 1st birthday , so this was a must. At Studio G. R. Martin, we have a very relaxed approach about children photography. If a child does not cooperate the first time, bring them back until they do….Little Eva’s 3rd session was a charm ! Her mom never lost confidence in us and we never gave up either. This winning combination of determination and persistence made this image earn a well deserved 24×36 canvas in our gallery.

La photo de bébé en studio, c’est tellement beau. Nous aimons les arrières plan simple afin de mettre en évidence le visage et les expressions de l’enfant. Gabriel fut un plaisir à photographier, quel beau bébé !

This was a baby shower photography challenge !
How do you do a photo of a group of 33 people at a shower , without doing the typical grouping. Well, this is what I came up with ! This photo was sent to all the guests as a thank you for attending “cashew” baby shower in Ottawa. p.s. Cashew was born ” Adrienne” a few weeks later… I am looking forward to doing more baby shower photography !

Welcome baby girl,
A beautiful baby girl in the family. Guy and I took these pictures at the Ottawa Hospital, Adi was not even a full day old. The photos we’re done in the hospital room, using simple window light technique – instead of using the flash and blasting the subject.
We can’t wait to do an official baby portrait of Adrienne in our studio.
