2010 PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS OF CANADA – NATIONAL IMAGE COMPETITION

The 2010 National Image Competition of the Professional Photographers of Canada took place this week during Inspiration 2010, the Annual Convention of the PPOC, in Mont-Tremblant, QC.
Guy Martin, MPA LPPO,a professional photographer from Ottawa (Cumberland), ON,was a finalist for 4th time for the Canadian Portrait Photographer of the Year award. Guy was also awarded first place in the Child Portrait class. Guy also received a Judge’s Choice award for the image titled “Adi”.

Julie Robichaud-Martin, MPA LPPO, a professional photographer from Ottawa (Cumberland), ontario was a finalist for the 8th time since 1999 for the Canadian Portrait Photographer of the Year award. Acceptance in the Competition earns the makers Merits toward several Degrees offered to PPOC members, including the prestigious Craftsman of Photographic Arts and Master of Photographic Arts (MPA). It is also an indication of the makers’ ability to produce above average images for their clientele.
The competition features entries from across Canada in many different classes, including Portraiture, Wedding, Commercial, Digital and Specialist categories. Members also are able to enter Salons in their respective regions of Canada annually, increasing their opportunities to earn recognition for their skills as a PPOC member.
The Annual Convention also presents seminars by an international assortment of the world’s foremost photographers, as well as a Trade Show where suppliers display the latest in equipment and services to the Professional Photographic industry.

Hummingbird MediSpa launched their calendar recently and we had the honor of doing most of the photography. The girls in the calendar are not professional models, they are employees from the spa. In any photo shoot we do, our job is to make you feel and look good when we take your portrait. Most of our clients don’t have modeling experience and it is up to us to guide them and pose them in ways that compliment all body types. This project was photographed throughout the 2009 year at our Estate studio in Cumberland, Ontario and at our Youville drive studio in Orleans.
